Hey all newb here, basically I bedwet when I’ve had alcohol and have been using tena man pants but they aren’t very good and leak, so I was looking for some better products but not sure what to go for as it’s all new territory for me.
Thanks all Alex
You are not alone in this and there will be many a young man or woman who has wet the bed when they have had too much alcohol (myself included!). Alcohol is a diuretic and so makes you want to wee. I am sure you will recognise the feeling of having two our three beers no problem and then all of a sudden the flood gates just want to open and you are disappearing to the loo every 15 minutes! All well and good when still awake. Not so good when asleep!
I have had incontinence issues throughout any life – initially as a bedwetter when a child/teenager – and then more seriously following a spinal injury.
I use the TENA Slip Maxi Active Fit, which is an all-in-one adult nappy style incontinence pad. The pull-up style pants available from supermarkets tend not to provide the protection you need, especially for heavy bedwetting. Some supermarkets do stock the TENA Slip products and Boots also do an all-in-one taped pad. They can be tricky to put on; some find it easier lying down and others standing up but they have fitting instructions and the main thing is to have a good snug fit to avoid leakages.
Lastly, you must go and see you GP as this could be easily treatable. They will doubtless ask you to keep a diary of your drinking (tea, coffee, water and alcohol) and wetting to see if there is an obvious cause.
I hope this helps.
Thanks adfw61, I will definitely go see my gp. I worry about the adult nappy types being hard to put on by myself but they seem like my best option as they generally are a lot more absorbent. How are you today?
Living with incontinence can be a bit of a learning curve, and finding the best product that’s suitable to your needs. I’ve found that lying down helps when trying to put on yourself. Sitting down is a big help. It’s all about trial and error.
