I’ve recently started experiencing bladder problems I’m unsure why :/ I know men can experience problems in later life but I wasn’t expecting it so soon. I’m booked in to see my doctor soon but I’m just wondering for what reasons do men experience bladder problems? Does anyone have any personal experiences which lead to bladder issues. I’m a little concerned and just trying to understand things a little better.
Prostate problems are a common cause of incontinence in men. As men age, the prostate gland can become enlarged. This squeezes the urethra and affects the urinary system. It is common for lower urinary tract symptoms associated with an enlarged prostate gland to occur in men older than 40. If you have had prostate cancer and prostate surgery, incontinence is a very common side effect. Although possible, incontinence is not always caused by prostate problems, so do not worry.
Nerve problems are another common cause of incontinence in men and can occur at any age. Diseases such as Diabetes, Stroke, Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis can cause nerve damage. Have you had any accidents or injuries recently? Spinal cord injuries can also cause incontinence.
What type of incontinence are you suffering from? Is it in the daytime or night time? It might even be caused by simple lifestyle habits you are used to.
