I’m 35 and have been single for over 5 years because my incontinence issue is so bad. I don’t just leak when I cough or sneeze, I can have just used the toilet, sit down at my desk and work and I feel it leaking out of me. It’s ruining my like. I’m only 35. I eventually went to the doctors about 18 months ago which was so embarrassing. They did an examination and said there were no issues with my pelvic floor. They tried me on several medications but none have worked. They said they’ve made a referral to a continence clinic but I’ve never heard anything and I’m scared to go back. The problem is getting worse. I’m constantly wet and I’m getting rashes.
Sorry to hear you are experiencing this. You mention they referred you to a continence clinic, although this may sound embarrassing it is really important that you contact them and ask to hear back.
Has your Doctor mentioned any other treatment methods other than medication? Behavioural treatment could benefit you, have you heard of this before?
It works by training your bladder and helping you control when you leak. There are two types of behavioural treatment: Bladder retraining helps your bladder tolerate being stretched as it fills, and gets you back into a normal pattern of passing urine. The less often you pass urine, the less often you will need to go.
Urge suppression is another method, which teaches you to ignore the first urge to go to the toilet.
Does this sound like something you’d be willing to try?
your problem might be soon over, welshgirl. You could be possibly involved in trial of phase II but it is running. However phase III should start next year.
Contact this company and ask for eventual help. They have so far 100% response and less improvement was by 50%, many by 100%.
Good luck, girl.
