Hi, I’ve had incontinence problems for many years now but my main struggle is managing it at night. I never seem to have a good night’s sleep because I constantly wake up really wet and uncomfortable and its like my incontinence gets worse. I try to limit how much I drink before bed but it doesn’t seem to make a difference. Has anyone got any tips on managing incontinence at night time? Or what products are the most efficient? Does anyone know of any good mattress protectors in case of leakages?
It would be useful to visit a Doctor just to make sure there are no other underlying causes of your nighttime incontinence that could be treated. Do not be embarrassed about this, Doctors hear about this problem frequently.
Bedwetting alarms feature a sensor that goes off as soon as the first drop of urine hits the bed. This wakes you up to go to the toilet to prevent any mess. This helps to condition the brain to recognise when your bladder needs to be emptied so you can eventually wake up independently or wait until the morning. You can ask your doctor or GP how to contact your local continence advisor for one of these.
For a nighttime product, a reliable option is the iD Expert Slip Maxi. This is highly absorbent and will keep you dry throughout the night. You can purchase this product online here.
