I care for my parents and know my mum has incontinence I believe my father suffers mildly but as you can understand it’s a fairly sensitive subject to approach. I’m a bit overwhelmed by the situation as caring for my parents can be pretty hard but dealing with incontinent makes it more difficult. I’m looking for some advice on the care of them? Caring for someone with incontinence is pretty new to me and I want to do my everything I can to keep them dry and clean and to protect their bed and furniture. Any information would be great thank you! 😊
Yes, sanitary products are different to incontinence products, as they are not designed to absorb urine. You need to find a product that is specially designed for incontinence to keep your parents dry. If your mum can get around the house and is fairly independent, pull-ups should be fine. I would recommend the Tena Pants for your mum, as they are a popular option for sudden urges and provide a comfortable body close fit. Would you say your mum’s leaks are light, moderate or heavy? I can recommend a specific level of the pants and where you can find them if you let me know the severity.
For your dad, I think pads would be great to start for managing light incontinence. They are discreet and light so won’t feel like a rapid change for him. Do you think he would be okay with changing these frequently himself?
