I’ve recently started with what I think is incontinence, I’m too embarrassed to talk to anyone about it, I don’t want to leave the house anymore and I just don’t know what I should do??
Hi,
Sorry to hear you are worried about this. Do not be embarrassed, the NHS estimates that between 3 and 6 million people in the UK have some degree of urinary incontinence!
What are the symptoms of your incontinence? If you describe what you are experiencing and how severe it is, I can provide you with lifestyle tips and product advice. There are products available that provide odour control and are discreet, so you shouldn’t be scared to get out of the house.
Are you having leaks of urine or faeces?
The main types of incontinence are known as stress incontinence, urge incontinence, overflow incontinence, faecal incontinence and nocturnal enuresis. Can you relate to any of the information in these sections? These conditions are only labelled so we can find the best treatment methods depending on the cause.
It is also vital to see a Doctor. Doctors deal with this problem on almost a daily basis, so you shouldn’t be embarrassed. This is necessary to ensure there is no major underlying cause.
