As i’ve gotten older my bowel control has become less and less. I am classed as elderly i guess and i’m wanting to know if this just a side effect of becoming old or should i seek medical advice. Also any information or recommendations for suitable products would be a great help.
Hi,
Although faecal incontinence is more common amongst seniors, it is not something you just have to put up with. Visiting a Doctor is a first step to ensure you have no underlying health conditions that are causing this. They deal with this frequently so there is no need to be embarrassed.
Are you immobile or fairly active? I can recommend some products for you if I know more about your situation.
You would benefit from a highly absorbent pull up pant, as they protect against heavy to severe faecal incontinence and allow you to move around comfortably. When looking for these, ensure you get a Maxi absorbency. Would you like a specific product recommending?
Once you find out the cause of your incontinence, your Doctor will recommend the best treatment option for you. Often, natural methods are attempted first, then medication is provided as a second option.
Hi,
Have you seen any improvement? Let me know if you need any more guidance.
