I wear shaped pads and plastic pants for continuous leakage, I would love to start swimming again but have no experience of suitable products to wear in the pool. Any suggestions?
I can empathise with this problem. the only swimming protection I could find in the UK is for faecal incontinence. for me, it is getting from the changing rooms to the pool, without leaking urine that is the problem. there is a British based company called “splash about” that offer protective swimwear. it might be worth a look. I couldn’t see anything for urinary incontinence but you might have better luck. I am visually impaired so I might have missed something. let me know if you find anything suitable. good luck 🙂
Incy Wincy are a popular product manufacturer for protective swimming products.
They sell a range of incontinence swimwear, swim nappies and children’s products. You can find discreet products that appear just like normal swimwear, so don’t worry about being embarrassed.
You can also find some discreet swimwear products on amazon, let me know if you would like any suggestions!
you can use a catheter before going in. however, this does not ensure leaks before getting wet in the pool I my self have tried this method. and have been mortified when my shorts are wet on the way from the changing rooms to the pool as for incy wincy, I have just double checked. and all their adult products state, not for urinary incontinence use, any other suggestion would be greatly appreciated. I used to swim competitively when I was younger. I would love to get back in the pool regularly.
The reason they say “not for urinary incontinence use” is that you basically can’t contain or absorb a significant amount of urine in a water environment (well, some scuba divers wear nappies under a drysuit, but I don’t expect anyone would go to those lengths in a swimming pool!)
The adult swim nappies are designed for containing bowel accidents, but they will have a waterproof layer so I’m sure they will prevent a bit of urinary leakage showing on your shorts on the way to the pool, if you want to use them for that purpose.
