Hi,
I’m a currently at university living with friends and I’m finding that I’m wetting the bed almost every night it stated a couple of months ago and I don’t know why. I’m really embarrassed about this I’m thinking of going to the doctors but the thought of admitting this is terrifying to me. In the mean time I need to find something to protect me at night!! My normal sanitary pads aren’t working at all. I don’t want my house mates to find out about this!!
Great, I hope they are effective! One useful lifestyle change is to make urinating a routine. Setting a schedule to make sure to urinate every one to two hours during the day is a good idea, as this ensures you are not going to bed with an irritated or full bladder.
You could also try setting a bedtime alarm. This involves randomly setting an alarm to go off in the night in order to wake one for urination. If you don’t want your housemates to wake up or draw attention to it, this could just be a simple vibration that you know will wake you. This trains the bladder to hold urine when you are asleep. Feel free to read our blog on treating nighttime incontinence for more information.
Are you using any bed protection such as a bed pad? These can further prevent your bedding getting wet. You may feel uncomfortable using one of these, however let me know if you would like more info.
