My sister has a suprapubic catheter in situ, she has had it about 2 years and it is managed by a nurse but she intermittently bypass from the urethra not the catheter site. When this happens it may go on for a few day then settle down for a few weeks. She is paralysed from the chest down, I dont know if this has any relevance though.
Any ideas why this happens. Thank you. Im a newbee.

Sorry, Zora again. The nurse has suggested that maybe a larger catheter is now needed but we are not sure if this will resolve the problem and would having a urinary infection cause one to bypass? Thank you.
Any tips or advice would be most helpful.
