Colposuspension surgery? I have just had this done a week ago and I am still in quite a bit of pain. Just looking for feedback from others on their recovery journey
Thank you for your question. It can take longer than six weeks to fully recover from colposuspension surgery.
Do not do any strenuous exercise or lift anything heavy, for six to eight weeks after your operation. Doctors also recommend not driving until any pain has completely gone.
Are you taking any over the counter painkillers currently?
If anyone has experienced colposuspension, it would be interesting to hear your tips on the recovery process.
Thank you for your reply. I just wonder how long before the pain subsided and I can walk about with little pain. The advice booklet from hospital advices excercises with the stomach muscle. Gently pulling in and then releasing but I find this really difficult just now. Is that normal ?
If you are worried that you are not progressing at the right pace, I would recommend going back to your Doctor. Tell the Doctor of your concerns and difficulty with doing the exercises.
It is also important to go back to the hospital to ensure you don’t have a wound infection. Do you have any bleeding, redness or puss leaking from the wound?
Just had this done last Oct still recovering worse thing Iv ever had to go through was in so much pain after the operation on returning home I just couldn’t cope with the pain
I have just returned to work but am still not able to lift anything heavy and still experience tightness and soreness in my pelvic area not sure if this is what’s to be expected and very difficult to speak to g p due to covid
