Hello everyone,
I realise this is probably not a typical question.
However, me and my husband are going on a hiking holiday. I am incontinent due to a hard childbirth, and this is making me dread it slightly. I don’t want to have pee in the wilderness. Can someone provide tips…on managing the leaks…and any product advice? Thank you!!! x
It all depends on the type and severity of your incontinence, I presume it’s more than just minor leaks, and you want something that you can just “go to the loo” in if the urge arises when you’re out?
You do need to consider the chafing issue when walking in incontinence products, particularly with a plastic-backed adult nappy, and most of all when it’s been “used”. A heavy duty pull-up product, e.g, Tena Pants Super/Maxi, could be a decent compromise. If you’re going to be out a long time and really don’t want to have to undress and pee in the wilderness, you’re probably best in a taped nappy e.g. Tena Slip. Whichever way though, get the vaseline on the inner thighs if you’re going to be walking in any sort of incontinence briefs. Support pants of some kind will help as well to avoid sagging/disintegration of the product.
