I have a holiday booked late this September in Spain..which I couldn’t be more excited for. However, I feel like incontinence could ruin it. After my hysterectomy, I have been left with moderate incontinence and know I will be thinking about this. Has anyone else been on holiday with incontinence recently? Would be great to hear about what products you recommend taking.
Any incontinence, however slight, should not allowed to dominate your holiday. I would recommend getting yourself some slips (basically an adult nappy) which fasten with Velcro at the hips. Perfect peace of mind by day and night. There are some excellent products on the market and they do not show under clothing. I`ve used slips for years now and they have changed my life for the better. Regards.
I wear slips full time too. I have moderate to heavy incontinence and I’ve found that with a slip, I am well protected and they are easier to change that pull ups. I find them better than shaped pads as they tend to move around and leak when I’m sitting. I’ve been on holiday all over the world whilst wearing nappies and it’s not been an issue. I always take the correct amount of supplies with me though as it can be difficult to get supplies while away depending on where your going in the world. If you contact your travel company, you may well get extra baggage allowance for free so you can take your supplies without worrying about the weight in your cases. I don’t let my incontinence stop me. There are usually lots of places to change while out and about. Even at the beaches they have changing areas where you can put your swimming costume on and in for a swim. Remember, when you swim and your not protected, it doesn’t matter because everything is wet anyway so no-one notices. I will just slip in and out of the water regular so I don’t actually dry out. That way no-one notices if you pee a little. Hope this helps, and hope you have a lovely time.
Thanks for your replies. That’s interesting that so many people wear slips, I was expecting the opposite advice. Do they show up underneath clothing? I will be wearing shorts, dresses etc so am extra conscious about products showing. I actually rely on sanitary towels/ smaller pads most of the time although I know this isn’t correct, I just don’t like shopping for proper products.
However, for a plane journey I know I need to give this a go.
What brands of slips would people recommend? I’ve heard TENA are reliable.
Thanks for your advice on swimming, I will keep this in mind.
