I’ve just woken up in a wet bed second time and his week. I’m so embarrassed this hasn’t happened in years and I don’t know why it’s happened need some advice
Hi,
Thank you for your question. Sorry to hear this, did you find the cause of this when you first started bed wetting? There are many treatments that out there that could help, depending on your cause.
Hi
I’ve been dry at night since I was a child did have the occasional accident in my teens but no real cause Found for that.
I am a heavy sleeper and have been stressed lately I’m so embarrassed and upset that I’ve had two bed wetting accidents this week and I don’t know why it has happened or if I’m likely to do it again.
Would great full of any advice
Hi,
As you have never found a cause behind this, I would recommend visiting a Doctor to ensure there is no underlying condition that can be treated. Although this might be embarrassing, it is worth getting to the bottom of it so you can find the best solution.
It might be that you do not have enough of a hormone that prevents bedwetting, therefore a Doctor can prescribe you the right medication.
Have you had any neurological conditions or injuries that could affect your nerves? This is a common reason behind bedwetting.
If you are a heavy sleeper and do not wake up to urinate, I would also recommend trying a bedwetting alarm. This is basically a device that vibrates or makes a sound as soon as you begin to urinate, allowing you to rush to the toilet.
Thanks
Embarrassed about making an appointment but will try to get over this and do it.
Don’t think I have an nerve issue. Have found I need to rush to the toilet more often now
Something to wake me up might be a big help as I haven’t been woken until well after I’ve had my accidents and it’s been to late for the loo very upsetting.
Thanks for the support
No problem. Yes, it can seem daunting to go to the Doctor but it will be worth it to rule out any underlying problems. Remember that they deal with this problem frequently! Some problems can be treated easily, so it is worth checking.
Bed wetting alarms can be very effective for allowing you to run to the toilet in time. They are quite pricey, so it might make sense to rule out any conditions and try lifestyle changes first.
Stress or trauma can sometimes cause bed wetting, so you could ask your Doctor about any relaxation tips that will help prevent leaks. I would also recommend not drinking fluid right before you go to bed, and drinking fluids earlier in the evening. Sugar and caffeine can also irritate the bladder and cause night time leakages, so I would recommend cutting down on these.
Are your leaks quite heavy or on the lighter side? It would be beneficial to try an incontinence pad for nighttime to help you stay dry and comfortable.
