My son and I both suffer from incontinence, he’s only 7 so he’s still young enough to come in the ladies change room with me. There’s no private stalls at our local pool just benches so I help him change and I do the same in the open, it’s normally quite busy so everyone sees that were wearing incontinence pants. Is it ok to be changing in the open? or should the others not have to see us?
Hi,
Are you wearing incontinence products specially designed for swimming? As long as they are incontinence swim pants rather than normal nappies, it should be fine. Most pools don’t allow normal nappies or pads unless they are designed for swimming. If they are disposable, ensure you are disposing them hygienically (in a disposal bag rather than on their own).
If you are worried about others being upset by this, I’d recommend contacting the local pool staff to ask for their guidance on this. I hope this is useful for you.
