I’ve suffered with dribbles after urinating for over 5 years however recently I’ve had a couple of full blown accidents and wet myself in front of work colleges and have started leaking without realising and am leaving myself visibly wet I need some advice with how to deal with this and do I need to start thinking about some kind of slip/pad I’m so embarrassed and slightly confused as to why at 26 I wet myself
Hi mate
Have you discussed this with your GP? There could be several medical conditions that could be causing this, and could be treated with medication. Are you under any undue stress at the moment? Increased anxiety? I know it’s embarrassing at a young age, but there could be some harmless underlying problem that’s leading to you leaking.
This has all been pretty new to me too, and I’ve started wearing a slip to prevent embarrassing accidents, and I do feel a lot more comfortable in work and social situations. I would definitely get checked out, and It’s up to you whether you want to go down this route, but if it brings peace of mind (like it has for me) then try and find a slip/pad that makes you feel comfortable.
Hi mate
Thanks for your response can I ask a bit more about what kind of products might be good for trying to hide the embarrassing issue I’m waiting to speak to my gp next week but I want to try and find something to help in between can I ask a bit more about your problem is it small leaks or full loss of control hope you don’t mind me asking, thanks again
No worries mate. I joined the forum as I was looking for advice myself, and incontinence can be a difficult issue to discuss. It’s reassuring to know that you’re not alone.
I have been leaking for as long as I can remember, but only recently I’ve found the urge becoming more extreme to the point where I can’t help myself. I’ve found wearing a pad helpful, as once I’ve leaked a good few times, I don’t need to go fully until I can make it to the toilet. It’s a bit difficult at first as the fear is still there, but once you get used to it, you’ll find your own way of stopping yourself just to satisfy that immediate urge.
I’ve not been wearing a full size nappy, and just use active slips which attach you your underwear. Would all depend on your size, weight, and frequency. Believe me, it’s still psychologically uncomfortable as I worry that people will know, but the alternative is lot more embarrassing.
Keep asking away mate, we’re here to help each other, and I’d like to know how you get on.
Thank you again for being so helpful mate really has reassured me to know that I’m not the only one it’s just so embarrassing as a 26 year old bloke for it to happen and it’s becoming so much more frequent and sometimes I don’t even realise until it’s happened
I’m definitely going to give some kind of pad a go but can you recommend something not to big and bulky and visible but still Ofer some protection because I’m not sure I can take the humiliation of it happening again
And honestly thank you so much for your help!
I’ve been using Tesco Free Spirit Men Active Shields. With tight fitting underwear, you would hardly know it’s there. I’m still quite conscious that others can tell, and they do feel a bit nappy like, but they are very discreet and I wear them for work all the time. Much cheaper than the Tena alternative too. Worth a try for £3 for 10?
Absolutely no problem mate, and try not to feel embarrassed. I hope you find the solution to help you move on with your life 🙂
