I’ve suffered with dribbles after urinating for over 5 years however recently I’ve had a couple of full blown accidents and wet myself in front of work colleges and have started leaking without realising and am leaving myself visibly wet I need some advice with how to deal with this and do I need to start thinking about some kind of slip/pad I’m so embarrassed and slightly confused as to why at 26 I wet myself
You should definitely go and see your GP. Most NHS trusts also have a specialist nurse continence adviser/service and they can advise you on the best way to manage your incontinence and the most appropriate protection. I have been dealing with this for 30+ years following a neck injury and have tried medication, catheters etc but found that for me the best way to manage it was the all-in-one adult nappy type protection. I use the TENA Slip Maxi Active Fit and get them supplied by the NHS. I have tried the pull-ups but I wet too heavily, have no warning and need the added proaction of a plastic backed pad. Pull ups can also be helpful if it is about catching the occasion accident when you don’t get there in time but are otherwise able to go to the loo. Thankfully the range, quality and accessibility of incontinence products has improved vastly over the years. I was worried that people would notice that I was wearing a nappy but I have never had anyone say anything and they give me the confidence I need to lead a full life. I hope this helps.
