This is embarrassing…but recently I’ve noticed that during running I leak urine. Not large amounts, but enough to make we want to stop and find the nearest bathroom. Really am bored of using sanitary towels and hoping for the best. I’m only 41, is my bladder screwed already?? thanks
Hi,
Have you been through childbirth or something that could severely weaken the muscles?
You need a physical exam from a Doctor to look for abnormalities and evidence of damage or weakening of the muscles. I would also recommend getting a test for infection to be on the safe side.
Do not use sanitary towels for this…they do not provide you with the same protection as incontinence pads. The TENA Comfort Mini Extra is available online, and is a popular shaped pad for managing stress incontinence. It is anatomically shaped, meaning it maintains discretion. I’d recommend trying this out and seeing if it is ideal for you.
Getting the correct pad is crucial when your been so active try using it with some compression pants and wear shorts over them ….nobody will know your wearing them and you can run with confidence, its great that your staying active so dont give up and ditch the sanitary pads for a product designed for incontinence 👍
Hello David,
What are compression pants? Sorry for the lack of knowledge..I’m still really confused by all this! I have tried the TENA Comfort Mini Extra and have got on well with these. However, I am curious about the pants as many people say these are better for running!
I do still feel self conscious about running…even knowing I’m wearing something underneath makes me less able to enjoy the run.
Dianne
Hello Dianne compression pants are a nylon/lycra pants used by many sports men and women under their normal shorts while running or playing their sport……they originally replaced the “jockstrap”that kept the lads bits in one place when they were actively playing or training now both men and women use them…the compression shorts are widely available in all good sports shops in a variety of colours and sizes for both children and adults alike …..I find them excellent just for holding a pad in place and stops them moving around ….get a close fitting pair and wear them under your running shorts and nobody will know your wearing a pad just enjoy your run and let me know how things go for you…..have you been incontinent long ?
