Are surgery which as damaged the sphincter? I believe is called. The valve near the bladder. I am under the understanding by my urologist that being male we have a backup system below the prostate but can take some training?
Well I am not having much luck doing the stuff he has said to do but I dare not leave the house without a really absorbent pad on….well I can only call it a nappy on… I am ment to be going away on holiday in January for a winter break now it is one thing wearing a pad which I have sort of got used to but being around a swimming pool having to wear it is scaring the hell out of me.
Can anyone PLEASE….. give me some on advice on preferable any more exercises I can do… and if failing that how the hell do you hide a pad just under swim shorts after going in the pool 🙁
Hi,
Thank you for your question. The pelvic floor muscles underneath the prostate can assist in controlling urine after surgery has damaged the sphincter. How long have you been practising the exercises? It is a good idea to go to a specialist to ensure you are doing them correctly. Some people notice a difference in 4 to 6 weeks, however it can take as long as 3 months to see a major change. I recommend practising the exercises through these steps.
Your holiday shouldn’t be ruined by incontinence. Organising your trip and products will help make all the difference. Regular incontinence pads shouldn’t be worn in the pool, as they absorb the water and will not provide protection. You can get some special swim diapers if you are planning on swimming, which feature a built in pad and are able to provide protection.
https://www.incywincy.net/ has some products that look just like swimming trunks.
Let me know if you need any more guidance on this.
