I finally visited my Doctor today about my incontinence caused by complications with a hysterectomy. As I am quite young, he didn’t understand that I need a heavier product as my incontinence isn’t just “light and subtle”. I really think there is a lack of understanding when talking to professionals about incontinence. He didn’t seem to understand anything about the embarrassment that comes with it and just said to find a shaped pad. My incontinence is moderate…not super heavy but I definitely need more than a tiny, flimsy product. Anyone who can relate and recommend products would be a life saver as I want to hear it from another person and not just a product description. Laura
Tena Pants might work for you, they’re a pull-up underwear product with a variety of absorbency levels from light to heavy.
If you want extra security you could opt for a “slip” product (essentially, a tape-fastening adult disposable nappy) – Tena and Attends for example have decent ranges with different absorbency levels.
It may be worth trying to get a referral to a continence adviser who might be able to recommend a suitable product, though judging by people’s experiences there’s no guarantee they will prescribe you something that works for you!
