I am trying so hard to shop for my mum with incontinence. She has heavy urinary incontinence and I need to keep her protected, a friend told me to buy a pad and plastic pants. apparently they are very uncomfortable and she refuses to wear these, she is uncomfortable about change so this makes matters even worse. What am I supposed to buy for heavy urine incontinence please? Would like some guidance. Holly
thanks both for your replies, really appreciate it!!
Yeah after some research turns out I have got this wrong, she was wearing a shaped pad with plastic pants and apparently that is a mistake because it rubs against her.
Have ordered some tena slips like you said, really hoping she settles down with these as i’ve heard good things.
i also managed to speak to our district nurse, who told me all in ones should do the trick. From what they said, all in ones on their own should be good however was told to use a booster pad like the answer above has mentioned if she needs it. they told me to stay away from plastic pants unless the products really don’t work for her.
this is incredibly hard, any other tips would be appreciated. I think she is in the early stages of dementia although it hasn’t been properly diagnosed. She already has MS so I don’t know if it’s just part of the MS. If anyone can help with extra tips/products for her it would be appreciated 🙁 thinking of getting her a carer like the nurse suggested however i don’t know how she’d feel about that.
