Hi team, I suffer from severe incontinence after having leukaemia and meningitis, When I was younger, So I’ve been wearing nappies 24/7, Because having no control of my bladder, I have recently been diagnosed I have Diabetic Insipidus & it’s made my bladder very overactive so I wee a lot, I use Tena slip Ultima medium which are the most absorbent products I can get from the continent nurse, But these are getting no absorbent enough especially at night, I was just wondering if you can help, I have found very more absorbent products on line, So I have bought some to try & hallelujah a very good product, I wondered if you can the NHS to pay into my bank account so I can buy the products which are suitable for me ? Thank you
Hi,
I’m really sorry to hear about your discomfort. I have to agree with the moderator, I wear Tena active fit Ultima with Lille inserts and in my experience that is the most absorbent combo you can easily get.
I do also wear plastic pants but obviously that only contains leaks and doesn’t affect absorption.
I’m type 1 diabetic. I was late onset though (early 30s) and misdiagnosed as type 2. For the 2 years I was on the wrong meds I was peeing about 4 litres a night. How is your diabetes treatment? Are you getting the best?
Others use cloth ‘nappies’ as they can apparently hold more. I can’t vouch for that as I haven’t worn them since about 1982 when I was 6!
The NHS won’t ever give you funds to purchase what you think best. They have guidelines, approved providers, their own classification code for efficacy of products, etc…
Good luck!
