Hello
New to all this.
Always had stress incontience (mild) after 3rd daughter wore liners. Suddenly over last 3 weeks have developed an overactive bladder with urgency and frequency.
Bought a device to help with pelvic floor exercises, been referred to a continence adviser, not uti been started on oxybutin. Im seriously struggling to work, as having what can only describe as bladder spasms and pelvic pain plus constantly wanting loo!!
Just wondering everyones experience of this.
Hi,
Sorry to hear that you’re struggling with this.
Don’t worry, it can be managed. What product are you currently in? For urge incontinence, I would recommend a pull up pant or incontinence slips.
I recommend carrying on with the pelvic floor exercises, as these can be useful in strengthening your muscles. Have you already seen the continence adviser you have been referred to? Oxybutynin helps prevent spasms of the bladder, so this will be very useful.
If you haven’t already, I would also ask your Doctor for a scan/check up to ensure you do not have a serious infection or condition that can be treated, particularly if you have pelvic pain. Don’t worry about this, Doctor here about this on almost a regular basis. More people than you think have incontinence.
If anyone on here has experienced urgency incontinence, it would be useful to hear your experience.
Hi
Im wearing a thick type pad.
Urinary incontience happening after ive urinated so not sure why? Not huge loss more a dribble that happens for an hour after ive urinated.
Cant get in to see contience adviser until 26th February. Im using kegel 8 to help me do pelvic floor. Had urine checked and all clear. Also had ultrasound of urinary tract and bladder all normal.
Im currently self certifying at work as i had a bit of a bad day with urgency and frequency and ended up crying, doesnt help i work on a very busy reception desk!
Hi
Im using tena discreet pads. The oxybutin has stopped the frequency and helped with pain but im still leaking im leaking after urinating not a huge amount but feels like air and it comes out. Tmi sorry.
Ive not been able to see contience adviser until 26th feb. Ive had an ultrasound of urinary tract and bladder all normal.
Hi how did you get on? I am a woman too but I’ve never admitted this to anyone or seen a doctor as I’m to embarrassed. The reason I’ve never had kids so I don’t seen an excuse and so I put it down to my medication as a side effect the fact that since being on it I too dribble after I’ve been to the toilet! Sometimes it at least 5 minutes or more but enough to have wet pants. I’ve tried kegels but they don’t seem to work. I am not old either and this has only been the past couple of years.
