I have a neurogenic bowel caused by a SC injury for 40+ years. I’ve been trying to use Peristeen on and off for 9 months now – having had no effective management program previously. I am really not getting the hang of it and it has made incontinence worse. I know my next step is colostomy but am not ready to give up on Peristeen just yet. I’ve been doing it in the mornings, but evidently not emptying properly because after my next meal there are major problems with not getting to the toilet in time. I do sit for a half hour on the toilet after pumping the water in, moving about, doing tummy massage, but a lot still isn’t coming out. Any advice/suggestions would be very welcome.
Hi,
Thank you for your question. Have you been to your Doctor to explain the problems you’re having? This could be worthwhile, as there could be something you are doing wrong that is causing it to be unsuccessful. They will explain some changes you can make to ensure it is successful.
Has anyone on here had any experience using Peristeen? It would be useful to hear your tips and advice.
