I use a shaped pad and plastic pants and find them hot and uncomfortable. I use a 1000ml pad in the day and 2900ml at night. Plastic pants 24/7. Use talcum powder to alleviate discomfort but still very uncomfortable. Can’t avoid the plastic pants due to Bowel leakage, anyone got any tips for coping with them?
Hi,
Many people do find plastic pants uncomfortable.
Would you consider trying an all in one product instead of plastic pants and a pad? This material may be much more comfortable for you, and they are suitable for bowel incontinence. All in ones can be worn on their own without an additional product, you can view some all in ones here. They have been proven to be just as effective as plastic pants.
If you would still prefer plastic pants, it would be useful to hear other people’s tip on using these.
Thanks, there are so many incontinence product suppliers who refer to plastic pants as comfortable when they are just the opposite, and the discomfort can be very severe at times even though I am used to it. But they are very effective and because of my bowel leakage they mask odour well. I appreciate the advice about all in ones but don’t want to wear nappies, it just feels like that would be a step backwards as I don’t feel like I need nappies and they would be bulky too. At the moment I use 4 or 5 1000ml pads through the day and they are not too bulky. I tried mesh fix pants but they are no good for odour control.
Would you consider trying pull up pants? They are not bulky and are designed like normal underwear, I know some of these are suitable for bowel incontinence and have odour control. Let me know if you would like any product suggestions.
What pads are you currently using? Pull up pants do feature odour control, which neutralizes any unwanted odour. I would recommend changing these before they are drenched to avoid bad odour.
If you are worried about odour in public bathrooms etc, you could also consider a small air freshener and wet wipes.
Would you like a specific brand of pull up pants recommending?
