Afternoon, Can anyone recommend any pull up pants for adults please? I have been suffering from faecal incontinence for some time now but its starting to become more frequent and heavier as time goes on. I have been using the Attends f6 pad for about four years and has always worked fine, now i need to change a lot more often and have also had problems with leakage. My friend has recommended pull ups. I have never used or even tried pull ups. Could you possibly recommend a good pull up for my situation please? very much appreciated, Beryl.
Hi,
There are pull up pants available that are effective in managing faecal incontinence. The benefits of pull up pants are that they are highly absorbent, comfortable and allow you to maintain an active lifestyle. They can be worn without the help of any other product, so can also be cost effective.
Are you quite mobile? They are slightly harder to put on and take off than simple pads.
Tena Pants Maxi are pull up pants designed for managing severe urinary and faecal incontinence. They have an absorbency level of 2900ml, allowing you to leave these on a lot longer than the F6 pads. They offer triple protection from leaks, odour and moisture. Tena Pants Maxi are also feature Unique Dual Absorption Zone for optimum dryness.
Would you like some information on where you can purchase these or advice on sizes? Don’t hesitate to ask if you need any lifestyle tips for managing faecal incontinence.
Morning, great thank you. The Tena pants maxi seem a good place to start. Where would i find these please? are they sold in any shops/supermarkets? or can you recommend a place online to purchase from? little less embarrassing that going to buy them from a shop i suppose! What lifestyle tips could you give me please? Beryl.
You can buy Tena Pants Maxi online from Incontinence Supermarket and Allanda. These are some popular online incontinence stores.
Do you do any light exercise? Moderate physical activity regulates normal bowel habits and reduces irritable bowel symptoms. You should also try and consume at least 8 cups of fluid per day in water or other non-caffeinated drinks. This ensures the stools stay healthy and can improve your digestive system.
Do you eat a lot of high fibre food? Consider limiting fibre, which is included in rice, beans and cereal. Fresh fruit should also be limited.
Have you been told by a Doctor how to maintain skin integrity?
Morning. I do not do a great deal of exercise, however, i do walk the dog a few miles per day. I will try to drink more to see if any improvement occurs.
I do also eat a lot of fish so will minimise that. I have not had any advice from my doctor about maintaining skin integrity. Is this something you could help with? Beryl.
Yes, drinking more could make a massive difference. Incontinence can often cause excess moisture, which results in infection and rashes. A good skin care regime decreases the risk of skin complications such as incontinence associated dermatitis.
It is vital to protect the skin’s natural PH to keep the skin hydrated, preventing excess moisture. You can use wash mousse to do this. Ensure you also use incontinence cleansing products to reduce the risk of developing problems. Creams and foams are vital to include in your regime.
Let me know if you would like any specific products recommending.
