I am 39 and have had issues with urinary stress incontinence after the birth of my son who is 17 now. I have tried physio with very limited effect. I am due to have surgery next year, sling surgery using my own tissue. Hoping to hear on other peoples experience on this. thank you!
Hi, I’m 39 also and have two sons of 8 and 5. I had this surgery 10 days ago. Had the op on the Thursday, had a catheter in until the Saturday morning and had to do three wees before I left hospital. Was discharged the Saturday night, only to be re-admitted Sunday lunch time as I suddenly became unable to wee – it was AGONY. Had the catheter put back in and had it taken out 5 days later (yesterday) and thankfully so far so good! The abdomen pain from the cut has been a little worse than I expected – I’m pretty fit and this completely knocked me. Getting off the bed or a chair is so hard! Today though, day 10, and I feel like there’s been a huge improvement in pain and mobility.I snail pace walked up the road and back to get some movement – took forever but I did it! If the surgery works for me it will be life changing. I currently can’t even walk down a hill without leaking, running is a NO and to go the the gym I either go at 6am or dehydrate myself for 6 hours to go 😳
I hope this helps a little, I obviously don’t know if it’s worked for me yet but I’m hopeful! xx
