I’m a 55-year-old female and struggle with leakages when I cough, sneeze, laugh, lift things and when doing any form of exercise. I’ve herd of bladder training I was hoping to find out more about it and if it could be effective for my situation?? Has anyone tried this??
Hi, as already mentioned this sound like stress IC – so the training of the corresponding muscles will help a lot.
How ever – to answer to the question about bladder training: It’s much more then just Kegel. My IC started after a bladder infection that had affected also parts of the inner bladder nerves. At this time I was nearly unable to resist any urge and was full urinary IC. After 1.5 years of training I can meanwhile live over the daytime without protection again.
But the treatment was much more the just Kegel. It was a combination of the above mentioned techniques (Kegel, schedules combined with delayed urination) but also the change of behaviour pattern (changing of dring to times, avoidance of coffee, spicy food etc). Moreover I had in the first time also a medication that helped (tolderin).
Interestingly the training brought later more success then the medication, that I set off after round about a year not only because of it’s side effects.
So the quintessence of this: Muscle training will help with Stress IC, Bladder training will help with OAB. But booth are very effective if they are done consequently and under supervision.
